FAQ
Straight answers.
Including the awkward ones.
What Epidermal is, what it isn’t yet, and how we think about access, learning and cost.
What is Epidermal?
Epidermal is an agentic AI support platform that is in development. Instead of routing a support case into a phone queue, an email thread or a remote-desktop visit, a trained agent diagnoses the problem and, with the customer’s permission, works toward resolving it, then learns from what it finds.
Can I use it today?
No. There is no live product yet. This website, including the animated concept walkthrough, is a simulation of the intended experience. It never touches your device.
How is it different from a support chatbot?
A chatbot answers questions. Epidermal is designed to work the case: to look at the situation with the customer’s consent, understand what is actually wrong, take approved actions, and hand over a full report when it can’t finish.
Do I have to install anything?
The plan is browser-first: a support page the customer opens in their browser, with no install. Companion desktop and mobile apps are planned only for cases the browser can’t reach, such as a device that won’t start, or using a phone camera to look at a physical product.
What will it be able to see and do?
Only what the customer allows, for that session. Viewing the screen, controlling the device and using the camera are separate permissions. Each is explicit, limited to the session, visible while active, and revocable at any moment.
What if it makes a mistake or can’t fix the problem?
Nothing destructive happens without a separate, explicit confirmation, and rollback is built in where possible. If it can’t resolve the case it stops, explains what it saw and tried, and hands a clear report to the company’s support team.
Does it learn from my case?
The agent is designed to improve over time, but a fix it discovers is only a candidate. A human reviews it before it can become a trusted, reusable solution, and learned fixes must be generalised without carrying private customer data into another company’s agent.
Is it certified or audited?
No. We hold no SOC 2, ISO 27001 or other certification and have not yet had independent security testing. The Safety & trust page lists what applies and where we are.
How much will it cost?
Pricing has not been set. The intention is to tier by company size and complexity: more automated, lower-touch options for small teams, and more customised options for larger or more complex organisations.
